Planning your Maternity Photoshoot | Oahu Maternity Photographer

Mama’s to be!  Are you waiting for that bundle of joy and planning to take maternity photos?  Here are some tips to take the stress away and get gorgeous, glowing maternity photos to cherish!

  • Timing- the best time to take your photos is between your 6-7th month of pregnancy.  This is the time when you are feeling your best and the morning sickness has usually dissipated.  If you wait till your 8th or 9th month,  you are usually uncomfortable, bloated, and not up to taking photos.
  • What to wear-  we like to recommend soft, flowy  materials that drape beautifully around your belly.  Also, try to avoid wearing black, because it makes it harder to see the baby bump.  Make sure to include pretty accessories and comfortable shoes!
  • Pamper yourself- this is such a special moment in your life, so make sure you take the time to self care and pamper your body!  Before the photoshoot, have a bath, maybe a massage and take the time to do your makeup and hair.  You will feel so much more relaxed in front of the camera!
  • Include your partner and/or children- this is a special time for them too!  Use this moment to get sweet photos with your significant other before the baby comes.  It’s always nice to have your partner there to carry your purse, massage your tired feet, and just be there for support.  And including big siblings into the action makes the photos so sweet and joyful.
  • Try a prop- if you have a special blanket, or cute little booties for your upcoming baby, make sure to bring it along!  I love incorporating special props and cute little outfits and details to a photo.  It really makes a special memory.

Congratulations to all you expecting mothers out there!  Hope these tips were helpful!
