Bridal Tips Series – Wedding Music Ideas

Music makes the people come together!  Who doesn’t love music?!  Having the right music and finding the right people who make music happen can be the key to make your wedding fun and enjoyable.  It can be difficult to find that perfect song for your first dance, the cake cutting, and for the garter and bouquet toss.  I collaborated with Gil at ND-Mixx to gather these tips and music ideas for your wedding.

  • Hire a professional coordinator.  A professional wedding coordinator will really help to set the tone you want at your wedding.  They can offer insights on musicians, DJ’s and bands.  They can also coordinate the timing of music, for example when to start the first dance or when to switch from a band to a DJ.
  • Always meet with the DJ or musicians to make sure your personalities match!  If you are a classical music type of person,  you won’t want to have someone who mainly plays rock or rap!
  • Make a list of potential songs you like!  It can be for the first dance, the mother/son dance, a money dance, etc.
  • Make a list of songs you DON’T like!  This way the DJ will know not to play the Macarena if you absolutely hate it.  🙂
  • Here are some ideas and suggestions that are popular right now!
