Kauai will always have a place in my heart, and I’m so excited to write this travel post all about the Garden Island! Whether you are planning a wedding, honeymoon, or just a vacation, there are so many amazing things to experience! Being born and raised on Kauai, I have to admit that I never realized how much the island has to offer. But now, whenever I go back home to visit, I cherish every moment I’m there. Here are just a few of my favorite things about Kauai!
- ADVENTURING
- Sailing on a catamaran or zodiak to the Na Pali Coast to see the majestic cliffs! Captain Andy’s is a great company to take you there. You may even be lucky enough to see dolphins swimming along.
- Hiking- Sleeping Giant, there are many trails along Koke’e State Park on the way to see Waimea Canyon, and the infamous Kalalau trail.
- Tubing through the mountains with Kauai Backcountry Adventures
- EATING -Honestly there are so many places that I love to eat on Kauai that I’m just going to list some of the ones I can think of!
- Deli and Bread Connection, Hamura Saimin, Kalaheo Coffee, Brick Oven Pizza, Ono Char Burger, Keoki’s Paradise, Little Fish Coffee, Mermaid Cafe, Jo-Jo’s Shave Ice, The Fresh Shave, Lapperts Ice Cream. There’s also some food that I crave that I can only get on Kauai- fresh Kululo, freshly made taro chips from Hanapepe, Chili Pepper Chicken in Hanalei, Flying Saucers at a Bon Dance, Chocolate Opihi from Kauai Chocolate Company, a box lunch from Po’s, Roast pork plate from KJ’s lunch wagon, and Lilikoi chiffon pie from Hamura’s! Can’t miss it!
- RELAXING
- Take a scenic drive all the way to the end of the North Shore,
- beaches- Polihale, Lydgate Beach Park, Poipu Beach, Anini Beach.
- Go to a Rum Tasting at Koloa Rum Company, bike along the Ke Ala He Makalae Path for some scenic views.
- Stroll through a farmers market to taste some local goods and pick up some unique souvenirs.
- Check out Old Hanapepe Town for its quirky and unique vibe, cute shops and great eats!
Hope you all enjoyed my little guide for Kauai! Kauai truly is a magical place and I feel so lucky to have grown up on the island.
