One of the common questions I get during shoot is “How can I look normal for my wedding photos?” or “I’m awkward we need help…” Unless you’re a professional model, you’re probably not accustomed to being in front of the camera. So how do you pose for a wedding photographer to guarantee shots you’ll actually want to frame or put in your wedding album?
1. Connect With Your Photographer – Feeling comfortable with your photographer will come through in photos. Set up a consultation, meet for coffee so you can get to know one another and get comfortable. Your photographer spends more time with the bride than anyone so it’s a good idea to get to know them and see if you guys jive well. Booking an engagement session would help a lot too!
2. Find Your Best Side – Most of you know which is your good side. If not, practice by taking some selfies or ask your bride tribe to help you out. Try different angles and see which you like best. If your face is perfectly symmetrical then awesome! You’re one of the lucky ones =)
3. Smile Naturally – It’ll feel weird, but practice. Relax your face, think of something that makes you happy—like spending the rest of your life with your significant other!
4. Relax – Have fun, laugh and be you. Capture the moment, look natural and not posed. Make it fun by dancing around a bit to relax, go somewhere where there’s not many eyes on you as well.
5. Stand Up Straight – Keep in mind, back straight look forward. Great posture goes a long way in making you look happier, healthier, more fit and more confident.
