Bridal Tips Series – Wedding Shot List

Your wedding day is going to be a mix of emotions, chaos, tears of joy, and stolen moments.  Make sure you get all the shots you want by preparing a wedding shot list!  As your photographer, I’m prepared to handle anything that comes up during the day, and having a list of photos you want captured really helps make your special day stress free!  I’ve compiled a list of some common must have shots that most couples will cherish, along with some unexpected ones.  Read on for more!

  • Bridal Suite:  I love capturing a bride getting dolled up, along with her bridesmaids.  And that moment when she puts on her dress is priceless!  I also love to capture the reactions from the Mother of the Bride, bridesmaid, gift exchanges, and putting on the her veil and shoes.
  • The Little Details: The whole day will be a whirlwind, and it can be easy to forget all little details that make a wedding come together.  Everything from the boutonnieres, wedding rings, lace details of the dress, and invitations need to be photographed!
  • The Grooms Room:  Guys don’t typically take a long time to get ready, but it’s still important to gets of shots of your groom as he is putting on his tux, or reading a letter from the bride.  It’s also fun to get all the men making a toast to the groom, and any other shenanigans going around in the grooms room!groomsmen posing kauai wedding photographer
  • Ceremony- Besides the main event of capturing the bride walking down the aisle and married first kiss, I like to make sure to get shots of the guests, the parents of the bride and groom,a father handing off his daughter to the groom, the musicians, and even the officiant!
  • Reception- the first dance and bouquet toss are always fun to capture, but also any fun dances, cake smashes, and the food!  Most brides forget to eat during the reception, and don’t even remember what was on the menu!  I love to capture all the scrumptious details.
  • Stolen Moments- during the excitement of the day, I love to capture some of the quiet, stolen moments that can be forgotten.  For example: the couple holding hands before seeing eachother down the aisle, a sleeping flower girl, a grandparents hug.  There are so many special moments during the wedding that we hope to catch!
