Congratulations to Phil and Chary Lei! You might remember them from my Las Vegas engagement session. They got married here in the beautiful Sheraton Waikiki. She was such a happy bride always smiling for the camera…trying to sneak up for candids and she turns and smiles, love it! He such a handsome groom with style. Thanks for letting us be a part of your day!

My favorite glass….

I’ve got asked many times what my favorite lens is…if I haven’t answered it’s because I don’t know. I have more than one favorite lens I guess, I change it up, the lens I have are all good and I use them all for different reasons.

* 50mm L f1.2 – My first L lens and it is awesome! I love the 50′s, I started with the 50 f1.8, then the 50mm f1.4 and I just had to get the 1.2. It’s sharp, and holy cow it goes all the way up to 1.2. Well I rarely shoot wide open at 1.2…but it helps while indoors =)

* 16-35mm L f2.8 – So good for family and bridal party shots during weddings, there are some big family members and it’s wide! They always ask me if I got everyone in the shot, and yes I did! I also love using this for sunset photos. The sky and sunset is just oh so awesome!

* 35mm L 1.4 – My new baby, it’s perfect, so far it’s been my go to lens.

* 85mm f1.8 – I rarely used this because I didn’t like backing up so far, but I love using it for couples, candids, and portraits. The bokeh is amazing! It’s so yummers!

I HAD the Canon 70-200mm f2.8 USM….but I made the mistake of getting the lens without the IS, my skinny little arms couldn’t hold the thing and all my shots were blurry and my back hurt a lot just holding it up! So I sold it and now saving up for the one with the IS. If you’re deciding whether or not to get the IS or not, get the IS…even my brother didn’t get sharp pics…did better than me but still soft, I love SHARP!

The Canon 24-70mm f2.8 is the 2nd L lens I got and it wasn’t as sharp as the prime lens are. I know some would keep it just in case, but I can’t keep a lens I don’t use, so I sold it and got something else…back then it was the 16-35mm 2.8

My next lens? Oh my….I want an 85mm f1.2 sooo badly! One day =)

Ali Hohn of Rock that OCF may be visiting Hawaii for an Off Camera Flash workshop in Kona or Oahu. It’ll be a one day workshop for a great rate at $495! My view through film….

My mom still uses film camera, she’s still with the old ways, no digital, the only thing she does on the computer is play solitaire, no internet. So I spent about $400 on a high tech solitare machine for her to play on since she wouldn’t try email. So when I got invited to a friend’s bday party I asked to use her Canon film camera…after meeting Jose Villa I got interested in playing with film. So I used the camera, I only had a a roll of 24, and it was hard to not see what I had. It took me much longer to get a shot because I wanted to make sure my exposure was right, etc. It was an awesome experience and after I got it developed, I wanna get me my own. The best thing is not having it edited and the colors are beautiful! No editing involved!
